CLUB CODE OF CONDUCT

Players

  • PLAY BY THE RULES at all times.
  • NEVER ARGUE WITH GAME OFFICIALS. If you disagree with or are
unclear on a decision, have your captain, coach or team manager
approach the off ice during a break or after the game to seek
clarification. Make sure you know what the rules are because often not
knowing the correct or current rules can cause frustration and unrest.
  • SHOW RESPECT FOR YOUR COACH. All coaches freely volunteer their
time to assist players to develop their netball skills. Without them there
    would be no team.
  • BE A GOOD SPORT AT ALL TIMES. Applaud all good play whether it is
by your team or the opposition.
  • Work equally hard for yourself and your team. Your team’s performance
will benefit and so will you.
  • DO NOT INTERFERE WITH, INTIMIDATE, BULLY OR TAKE UNFAIR
ADVANTAGE of any other player. Treat all players as you would like to
    be treated.
  • I WILL MAKE EVERY EFFORT TO ATTEND EVERY TRAINING
SESSION AND EVERY GAME. IF I CANNOT MAKE TRAINING OR
THE GAME I WILL NOTIFY MY COACH.

Parents and Spectators

  • SHOW RESPECT FOR ALL COACHES AND CLUB OFFICIALS. Remember that all positions are unpaid and the Club would not exist without our volunteers. Abuse or intimidation will not be tolerated from players, parents or spectators. Parents are expected to model the behaviour we want of our players. I will ensure that should I have any issues I will approach an official from Helensvale Netball Club in a non threatening manner and away from the courtside.
  • NEVER ARGUE WITH A GAME OFFICIAL. This is not acceptable behaviour at a game and not the example we want to set for our players. If you have concerns or questions, raise these with the coach or team manager after the game.
  • ENCOURAGE PLAYERS to always participate according to the rules.
  • NEVER RIDICULE OR ABUSE ANY PLAYER, particularly for making a mistake or losing a game.
  • MODEL APPROPRIATE BEHAVIOUR. Applaud good plays by all teams and encourage all players. Children learn best from examples and remember that children are involved in the sport for their enjoyment, not yours.
  • FOCUS ON EFFORTS AND PARTICIPATION rather than the outcome and teach children that an honest effort is as important as a victory. This will assist in setting goals related to ability, by reducing undue disappointment and the emphasis on winning.
  • If children are interested, encourage them to participate. If they’re not willing or not interested, don’t force them or they may never learn to enjoy the game.
  • I WILL MAKE EVERY EFFORT TO GET MY DAUGHTER TO EVERY TRAINING SESSION & EVERY GAME. IF I CANNOT GET MY DAUGHTER TO ONE OF THE ABOVE, I WILL NOTIFY THE COACH AS EARLY AS POSSIBLE.
